It looks like Princess Cruises is starting to crack down on what a lot of crew casually call “mafia business”
Not real mafia of course, just the slang we use for side deals between crew.
The notice posted in crew areas is “HEADSUP: Financial Misconduct – Unacceptable Practices” and it basically talks about crew asking or giving money for things that shouldn’t involve cash.
They’re targeting situations like: Charging for services that are already part of someone’s job, Paying for favors between crew and Any kind of unofficial “side hustle” onboard
They even gave specific examples.
The notice clearly says these actions are against company policy, and if you get caught, you could face disciplinary action or even termination.
It also tells crew to report anything like this to supervisors or HR.
Honestly, most of us know this kind of thing has been happening forever on ships and is usually seen as normal crew life. But now it looks like Princess is taking it more seriously and trying to shut it down.
Curious to hear is this happening on your ship too?
