Princess just sent out a big update about changes coming to the Rooms Division, and I wanted to share the highlights here. Starting next year, they’re introducing new roles like Senior Assistant Rooms Division Manager and Assistant Laundry Master which should finally give people clearer promotion paths. They’re also adjusting manning: fewer Junior Stateroom Stewards, more Rooms Division Attendants, and more chances for top-performing Stewards to move up.
The biggest news is a new incentive program. The top 12% of Stewards based on guest scores will get a monthly bonus, and a new points system will decide who gets the higher-paying Suites and Sanctuary sections. They say all of this is meant to support our growth and reward good performance. Let’s see how it plays out once they start rolling it out across the fleet.
Here are all details:
Organizational Changes & Career Progression
We’re refining the Rooms Division structure to strengthen operations, support career growth, and give you the tools and support you need to lead and deliver outstanding results. Here’s what’s coming:
New Roles
•
Senior Assistant Rooms Division Manager – Sphere Class – A new Senior Assistant Rooms Division Manager role will be introduced on Sphere Class ships to create a clear career path and set teammates up for future success. This role will support our current Rooms Division Managers with day-to-day operations, strengthening the team’s leadership. Applications are open now, and we’ll begin implementation in early 2026.
•
Assistant Laundry Master – Sphere and Royal Class – We’re adding a new role of Assistant Laundry Master across Sphere and Royal Class vessels, creating a promotion path for those who want to become Laundry Masters. Applications are open now, with positions opening in the first half of 2026.
Complement Adjustments
•
Increased Rooms Division Supervisor Complement – Coral Princess – Coral Princess will now have one additional Rooms Division Supervisor to align with the fleet. This will improve supervision and help us respond faster to guest requests. Implementation will start at the beginning of 2026.
•
Laundry Manning Adjustment – All Ships except Island and Coral – We’re streamlining laundry operations and manning will be reduced by one position on all vessels except Island and Coral. This change will happen gradually, with no shortened contracts.
Manning & Role Adjustment
The overall compliment will remain unchanged for the following roles, and we’re targeting fleet-wide completion by the end of Q2 2026.
•
Junior Stateroom Stewards – We will reduce the number of Junior Stateroom Stewards. This role will no longer handle linen valet duties, allowing them to focus on providing consistent, high-quality service to officers and fleet cabins with permanent section assignments.
•
Rooms Division Attendants – We will add additional Rooms Division Attendants positions and linen valet duties will become part of their regular duties.
•
Stateroom Stewards – We will be offering more promotions for top-performers to become Stateroom Stewards.
New Performance–Based Incentive Program and New Point System Program
We want to recognize the skill and dedication our teammates bring to premium accommodations and ensure their extra effort is rewarded fairly and transparently.
Performance-Based Monthly Incentive Program
We’re introducing a new performance-based incentive structure for Stateroom Stewards, with evaluations based on OBE NPS performance for “Stateroom Steward Service” and “Stateroom Cleanliness”. Stateroom Stewards in the top 12% will be awarded a monthly performance bonus.
Stateroom Service Point System Program (Suites & Sanctuary Collection)
Section assignments will now be based on a new weighted points system based on NPS performance (“Stateroom Steward Service” & “Stateroom Cleanliness”). Stateroom Stewards with the best results will be assigned sections that include Suites and Sanctuary Collection. These sections will have higher pay to recognize the extra work they require. NPS scores will be checked regularly with a new dashboard, so assignments continue to reward top performance.
The incentive program and point system will be piloted on Star Princess and Sky Princess starting soon with a progressive fleetwide rollout beginning in March.
These changes are all about supporting your growth, rewarding your performance, and building stronger teams for the future. We’re here to guide you through these transitions as they roll out across the fleet.
