MSC Euribia Housekeeping issue – is this happening on other ships?

MSC Euribia crew member reached out to share a situation that’s been weighing heavily on them. Things started going downhill after MSC introduced a new position in housekeeping. Instead of teamwork, there’s now tension and constant pressure between housekeeping stewards and cabin stewards.

Housekeeping stewards are currently expected to clean 36 bathrooms in five hours, assisting six different cabin stewards. While rotation is supposed to keep things fair, the crew member says that’s not what’s happening in reality.

“I’m constantly getting calls, being rushed, and told to help first,” they shared. “Before the day even starts, you’re already stressed.”

On embarkation days, the pressure reportedly gets worse. The crew member says they were told all 36 bathrooms must be finished by 10:30 a.m., even though some cabin stewards with fewer cabins were still working until mid-afternoon.

What really crossed the line, they say, was the way people spoke to them.

They were allegedly told that if they couldn’t keep up, they should sign off and go home.

On top of that, the crew member says they’re being asked to do tasks outside their job description, like making beds or scrubbing floors, sometimes by people who haven’t even finished their own cabins.

“That’s not my job,” the crew member said. “But somehow it becomes my problem.”

The hardest part, they say, is feeling trapped — especially with months left on the contract.

“I don’t feel good anymore,” they admitted. “I honestly don’t know if I can make it to the end.”
