11 Years with RCCL… Never Seen Gratuity Opt-Outs This Bad

Open Letter from RCCL Serenade CREW.

I've been working for RCCL for almost 11 years and the experience in this kind of itinerary really put all the crew members down, "down" meaning we lost a lot of money, I believed that restaurant department are not the only one who's affected but also the BAR DEPT and the HOUSEKEEPING DEPT.

Our salary depends on the gratuities that the guests are paying unfortunately the guests have the rights to opt out their gratuities. Week by week there's more and more opt out meaning we also lost a lot of our money.

I wonder who should we ask about this kind of situation? Is it the RCCL shoreside? Is the Management of the Ship? Why are they allowing the guest to do this?

We are doing our part do deliver the service that the guests needs, we did extra miles to satisfy what the guests wants. WE DESERVE MORE, WE DON'T DESERVE TO BE PAID WITH AN OPT OUT GRATUITIES, in other iterneraries this never happens.


Just to give you an example, last cruise we have a guest count that ranges 2500+, in that kind of count, the guests who opt out their gratuities are 911, that is almost a 1000 guest. And I believed all of the guests we served are very well treated, they experienced above and beyond service. I hope this letter goes to everybody that is affected of this situation and also will express what we really feel during we receive our salary.


WE SWEAT BLOOD EVERYDAY AT WORK AND WE EARN WHAT SUPPOSED TO BE FOR US.
