PLEASE MAKE MYSELF ANONYMOUS. I JUST WANT TO BRING THIS ONE UP SO THAT IMMEDIATE ACTION WILL BE DONE.
I am writing to formally bring attention to the unsustainable and distressing working conditions currently faced by the restaurant team aboard the OE Corinthian. While the pressure of a new ship opening is understood, the leadership under F&B Director and the Restaurant Manager has become unreasonable and inconsiderate of basic crew welfare.
These are the issues that we think need immediate action. Excessive Working Hours: The restaurant team is currently working approximately 14 hours per day. A typical shift begins at 6:30 AM and often does not conclude until almost 11:00 PM. We have inadequate Rest Period or NO REST at all. Despite the grueling schedule, staff are only permitted a 30-minute lunch break between 6:30 AM and 5:00 PM. Following mandatory drills at 5:00 PM, the team is immediately required to return for dinner service for invited guests, leaving no time for recovery.
There is also Lack of Accountability: Currently no proper time-stamping system in place for the crew. As a result, these excessive daily hours are not being accurately recorded, leading to a lack of transparency and a violation of standard labor practices.
We, crew, are dedicated to the success of this ship, but the current management style is heartless and disregards the physical and mental well-being of the staff. We request that leadership reconsider these timings and implement a fair, recorded, and reasonable schedule that aligns with maritime labor standards.
THE SHIP IS STILL PREPARING FOR ITS INAUGURAL VOYAGE AND YET WE ARE WORKING AS IF THE SHIP IS FULL OF PAYING GUESTS.
