Hello everyone,
I work as a Cabin Steward on MSC Seaview. I would like to share some serious concerns that many of us are facing and hope this post can bring attention to these issues.
For the past two months, we have been doing luggage duty, but the company has not paid us for this work. There has been no clear reason given for why the payment has been stopped.
Luggage duty is done outside our regular working hours and should be paid. We usually have luggage duty two times per week:
Before, the payment was around $3 per hour, and in total about $25 per luggage duty. Even though this is not a big amount, it is very important and useful for us. Now, even this small payment is no longer given.
Another big issue is guest satisfaction earnings. Almost all cabin stewards in the fleet are feeling sad and frustrated about this. Some ships receive low, medium, and high bonuses, but on MSC Seaview it is very difficult to earn anything more.
When we were sailing in Europe, we did not receive good guest satisfaction pay. For the last two months in Brazil, we have also only received the lowest amount, around $129.
We work very hard every day to provide good service, but the rewards do not reflect our effort. Many of us feel tired, disappointed, and unappreciated.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read and listen to our concerns. We hope management will take this seriously and give us clear answers and fair treatment.
Stay safe, everyone.
